Aaron went to the dentist yesterday. He'd been having a terrible toothache for about the last week. He'd even went to the doctor for antibiotics and pain medication. They just weren't working so he decided to go see the dentist. He checked out a few of them to see who was cheaper. It turned out it was the guy in our town considering we wouldn't have to waste $40 in gas just to get there and spend 4 hours driving.
Apparently his jaw was absessed under the tooth. The dentist pulled it out after a few tries. Aaron asked if he could keep the tooth as a souvenir. He brought it home and cleaned it up and showed it to me. It was so big. He must have one massive hole in his jaw. I can't imagine having something that big pulled out of my jaw. OUCH! It was in nearly perfect shape to except where it had the one filling. It seems horrible to lose a tooth that good, but apparently it needed pulled.
He's doing pretty good now. The only thing that seems to be causing him issues is food. He can't really chew well yet. Hopefully that'll be better in the next couple days. I'm just so glad he isn't in dire pain anymore because it isn't pretty.

A Night Without the Girls
Our three girls are spending the night with their grandparents tonight. They are gonna swim and watch movies. I'm sure they will have fun. I guess it'll be kinda nice to get a break from the little ones. They're not that little, they're 5 and 7.
The boys won't give that game a break. Been thinking about teaching them a few card games, but I'm not really good at them. Been doing some online research on a few. Gotta buy a new deck of cards though. I was never taught to play cards. I think it's funny that my other relatives all know how to play cards. I guess I didn't get to spend enought time with my grandma. Just the other day on FB my cousin was talking about playing Spades with his family. I was like I've heard of it but what the hell is it. So of course I looked it up. I remember hearing my grandma talk about it when I was younger, but like I said I was never taught to play. I'd like to teach my kids some family things even if it wasn't taught to me. That way it stays in the family. I've never been much for games of any kind. I guess I'm a bit of a poor sport.

We had Visitors
So today after I gotout of the pool I was sitting in the yard watching the girls swim and listening to my iPod. A truck pulled up in our driveway and there I was in my bikini. I am a little self concious about this kind of stuff. I mean I looked pretty rough. My hair was a mess and I didn't have any makeup on. So I rushed in the house to tell Aaron that someone was here and get dressed. I thought it was someone coming over about the pond we had built, but it wasn't. It was Aron's cousin and her family. They came over for a short visit so the kids could play together. It had been quite awhile since they've seen each other.
The kids all played in the pool and had a blast. Even their lil' baby played in the pool. She had no fear. I guess she's in the waer a lot. We showed them the new pond and talked. She asked me when me and Aaron are going to get married. I just laughed and tried to avoid the subject. It's really not one I like to talk about. Kinda like the one about never having more kids. I don't know if we will ever get married. I do know we won't have kids. That is why we got cats. I also showed them my ocicat, Maxie. They were pretty impressed. She thought I was crazy for spending what I did on her. It was worth it to me. I love her to death even if she gets on my nerves some times. She's a lot like a little kid.
I had to cover the pool tonight and put more chlorine in it. Nate had to mow and the pool would have gotten filthy if I hadn't covered it.
Aaron is still battling that toothache. He hasn't really left the bedroom except for when we had company. He is so miserable. I hate it when he feels bad. He is really grouchy and hard to deal with. He is probably crawling into bed right now or sitting in front of his fan trying to stay cool. I am watching "Betsy's Wedding". I haven't seen it in ages.
I probably should get off here and head to bed myself. Good Night. :)

One Hot Summer
I'm sure you can all agree it's really hot outside. We're all trying to stay cool in our air conditioned homes, at the pool, beach, river...where ever we can find a place to cool off. It's so hot that even my A.C. can't keep up. We have our thermostat set at 60 and it's about 80 degrees in this house. Yeah it's pretty miserable. I gotta go outside for a little bit just to truly appreciate that it is actually cooler inside. I took a late night dip last night in the pool just to cool off. It did the trick. I was freezing when I got out. I thought the water would have been a bit warmer with this heat wave we've got going on right now. I was able to stay cool for the rest of the night. Wish I could say the same for Aaron, but nope.
We haven't really done much of anything this summer. Funds are kinda low this year. With the prices of everything rising we pretty much have to spend every dime we have to live at this point. Our savings have greatly dwindled. I don't even know how we are going to buy school clothes for six kids.
Well, that's about it or this post. Stay cool. :)

Family Update
I realize it has been a while since I have posted anything. The kids are doing well. School is nearly over. Just a couple more weeks to go. We have been dealing with some major flooding in and around our area. The kids missed a few days because of the flooding. Had a terrible scare with Maxie a couple weeks ago. She started acting drunk. She just couldn't walk right. I couldn't take her to the vet right away because the one I took her to I wasn't able to reach. Apparently he was flooded in also. I had to take her to see a different vet the next day. She was doing a bit better by the time we got there. The vet was about to say she was fine. Then she went to do some blood work to ease my mind and Maxie had a nother episode. She passed out as they were drawing her blood. She really scared the vet. They thought she might have a congnital heart problem. They didn't have the equipment to prove it though. We would have to see a specialist to get a diagnosis. That would cost I am sure a small fortune. So instead we took her home hoping for the best. Hoping it was just a fluke. I came home and took a nap with her. We slept for a few hours and when we woke up we both felt better. She was herself again. It was a miracle!
Maxie is still doing well. She is gaining weight and growing like a weed. She went to the vet yesterday. She got vaccinations and checked for a wasp sting. She has a fascination with all things that fly. I guess that is pretty common with cats. Her favorite game is fetch. She could play it for an hour straight. She has to play several rounds before bed every night and when it's time for bed she paws at the covers to be let in. I have never had a cat that loved to snuggle under blankets. She is such a delight. :)
I had a tea party on April 29 to celebrate the Royal Wedding of William and Kate. The kids loved the tea and sandwiches, but I think they were a little bored with the wedding pre-show. Before I knew it my recording stopped! I missed the actual wedding. I was sooooo upset. All this planning for nothing. I eventually found it again, but it just wasn't the same. I did get Nate to watch it with me though.
Here are a few pics from my first 5k. I didn't do real well, I hurt my knee not even five minuted in to it. I did finish though. I walked most of it. I finished 5th in my age division (or so I was told). Completed it in 38 minutes. I am still running. I hope to finish in 24 minutes or less next year. I know that is quite a goal, but who knows maybe I can do it.
Went to Amara's class Friday for the Mother's Day makeover. They have it every year. It's fun. The kids get to do your makeup, nails, give massages. Amara also grew me a marigold. I hope it lives. I managed to dump it twice before I even left the school. It seems to be thriving . I have it in my living room window.
Sunday was Mother's Day. The kids were at their dad's for the weekend. I was a bit sad about that. I missed them a lot. I got my mom and orchid and went to visit her for a little while. Then I came home and once the kids got home Aaron made me go to my room. He said he was gonna throw something together with the kids for me. It totally freaked me out. I've NEVER been too fond of surprises. I get so nervous. Everytime I have to open gifts in front of people I swear I am going to have a panic attack. Why I get this way I don't know. Anyways he called me out a few minutes later. The kids were all sitting around the dining room table. RED ROSES! I was in shock. I have never got roses before. Apparently there was a dozen. They were do bunched up I couldn't tell. It was really sweet. I just can't figure out how he managed to sneak them passed me. He says he'll never tell.
We have several things going on between now and the end of school, May 27. Thursday Kayla has her 8th grade graduation. She is pretty excited. I got to thinking last night when we were talking about it. I don't even remember my 8th grade graduation. That is horrible. I mean I'm not that old yet, and even if I was you'd think you'd still remember something like that.
Friday Amara will find out who her kindergarten teacher is. I am hoping she gets Mrs. Twidwell like all her brothers and LeeLoo did. She also has her Opera that day. I'm pretty excited about it all. Then she will be done for the year. Nate has a trip to some conservation center this week too.
LeeLoo has a field trip to Grant's Farm next week. I've never been there. I'm pretty excited to go. I'm going to carpool with another mom since my car needs to go to the shop for some front end work. I think I'm going to have to bring Amara with us. She should enjoy it, too. Then I think the last week Jake has a trip to the STL Arch. I am hoping to convince Aaron to go with us for that one. I think we would all have fun. He can be pretty difficult though.

A-Z Blogging Challenge "O is for Ocicat"
I'm not sure if any of you know, but I recently adopted a beautiful ocicat from a breeder in sunny California. My kitten's name is Maximista, but I call her Maxie. I named her after a character from one of my favorite shows. I'm not sure if any of you know what an occicat is. An ocicat is a rare breed of cats which has spots. It looks like a wild cat, but isn't wild at all. Ocicats don't have any wild blood. They are actually from a mixture of siamese, abssynnian, and american shorthair.
Here are some pictures of my Maximista. I hope you enjoy them. :)

A-Z Blogging Challenge "N is for Nail Biting"
For years I had the nervous habit of biting my nails. I was always ashamed of this "dirty" habit. I have always hid my hands. I was afraid someone would see my ugly nails. I bit them down to the quick sometimes so far down that they would bleed. My mother always bit her nails, too. Maybe I learned a bit of this habit. I am very happy to say that I am no longer biting my nails. I can actually look at my hands and not cringe at the sight of them. I was never one for rings because in my mind all that would do is draw attention to my hands. Now I love to wear rings and I am finding it hard waiting for my engagement ring. I have it picked out, but my boyfriend is saving money to buy it.
I'm very happy that I gave this habit up. I just hope I didn't rub off on my daughters. My daughter, Amara she doesn't bite her nails. LeeLoo, my other daughter, does bite her nails. I hope she can quit before too long. I don't want her to be self concious like I was for all those years.
So here is a question for all of you...if you have kicked this habit or know someone who has, how did you/ they quit biting their nails. I want to help my daughter quit while she's still little.
